Inventing Anna subject Anna Sorokin is reportedly set to join the latest season of Dancing With The Stars.

An exclusive report by Page Six states that Sorokin, also known as Anna Delvey, has signed up for season 33 of the popular competition show.

Sorokin was jailed in 2019 after being convicted of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services. Her con involved posing as a wealthy German socialite, ultimately stealing more than US$250,000 from businesses and individuals.

Her escapades became the foundation for a New York story by writer Jessica Pressler – it was since adapted into Netflix‘s 2022 limited series Inventing Anna, starring Julia Garner in the lead role.

In 2022, Sorokin was granted bail and released from jail, continuing her sentence under house arrest. The terms of the arrangement involved zero social media usage. However, Page Six reports that these have since been relaxed, and she has since been given a social security number. Last month (August 17), Sorokin shared her first Instagram post in two years.

Under the new terms, Sorokin is allowed to travel freely within 70 miles of her New York home. Dancing With The Stars tapes its episodes in Los Angeles, where Page Six reports Sorokin is currently headed to in preparation for the show. A representative for Dancing With The Stars told Page Six that it doesn’t comment on casting “rumors”.

It was reported in January 2023 that Sorokin has been working on her own reality television series named Delvey’s Dinner Club, where she would openly discuss her criminal past with invited guests.

“There’s nothing like the experience of bringing together a curated group of friends to share life stories and enjoy a great culinary experience,” Sorokin said in press release for the series, per The Guardian. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with Wheelhouse and Butternut to bring my vision to a wider audience and share a glimpse of the real Anna Delvey.”

In NME‘s two-star review of Inventing Anna, Ralph Jones writes: “In 2018, the story of Anna Delvey and her bare-faced fraud made for scintillating journalism. Delvey was a fraudster who illegally attempted to take millions from investors. Unfortunately, as the Netflix drama Inventing Anna proves, the same story makes for maddeningly dull fiction.
