Vikings: Valhalla is a spin-off series, and sequel, to the hit show Vikings.
Created by Jeb Stuart, the Netflix show is set over 100 years after the events of Vikings, which came to an end after six seasons in 2020. The spin-off is set in England, as tensions rise between the Viking descendants and the English natives.
The series is led by Sam Corlett as Leif Erikson, Frida Gustavsson as Freydís Eiríksdóttir, and Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson, with other cast members including Bradley Freegard, Laura Berlin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and David Oakes.
After the show debuted in February 2022, the third season was released on July 11, 2024.
Will Vikings: Valhalla return for season 4?
Sadly, season three is the end of the road. Netflix confirmed it would be the final season in June, in what’s been described as a natural creative conclusion for the series.
Speaking about the show’s end, showrunner Jeb Stuart said: “I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald, and Freydis. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and we have done just that.
“I hope when the audience gets to see the new season, they’ll be excited by all the new heights that we’ve taken these heroes.”
Could there be another Vikings spin-off?
At the time of writing (July 11), there’s no word on whether there’ll be another Vikings spin-off series.
The sheer amount of Viking history certainly makes another show possible, but it depends on whether Netflix, or any other network, see value in continuing the franchise.
