Jade Thirlwall has spoken out about learning Arabic in honour of her Egyptian and Yemeni roots.

The Little Mix member recently released her debut song ‘Angel Of My Dreams‘, which is taken from her forthcoming album. So far, the singer has not revealed its title or date.

Speaking to Rebecca Judd on Apple Music 1, Thirlwall discussed her hobbies post-Little Mix, with her telling Judd: “Well, I am learning Arabic. I’m trying to sort of tap into my roots a bit more.”

She then requested for Judd not to ask her to speak the language, adding: “I’ll just forget every single word under the sun!”

Thirlwall also revealed that she learned that “I’ve actually surprised myself creatively,” going on to say: “I think the minute I stopped caring as much about like, oh gosh, what’s going to work on radio, what’s a TikTok hit and all this stuff, I started writing my best music,” she said.

“So I think I needed this time to evolve and know who I am as my own artist.”

Thirlwall recently confirmed her cameo in Fontaines D.C.’s ‘Starburster’ video at Glastonbury 2024.

The low-key announcement came in the form of an off-the-cuff shot during an Instagram carousel of photos of her at Glastonbury over the weekend. One of the images saw her wearing a t-shirt that read: ‘I’m in a Fontaines D.C. video’.

Fontaines frontman Grian Chatten returned the favour by appearing in Thirlwall’s video for ‘Angel Of My Dreams’.

While in ‘Starbuster’ we see Chatten walk into the photography studio and having a look around the place, ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ depicts the same incident from Thirlwall’s perspective as Chatten looks lost and out of place in the studio.

In Fontaines’ video, Thirwall appears around the 3 minute 22 seconds mark, while in the other Chatten is seen around the 2 minutes and 28 seconds mark.

In other news, Phil Coulter has reacted to his Jade Thirlwall sample: “I am in grave danger of becoming cool”
