Jamie Foxx is set to make a comedy special for Netflix in which he will discuss the medical emergency that left him in hospital last year.
In April 2023, the Oscar-winning actor was hospitalised after suffering an unspecified health emergency when he was filming his new Netflix movie Back In Action.
Details about the nature of his medical complication have remained largely unknown ever since, although in July he did say to a group of fans in Phoenix: âApril 11 last year, I had a bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days. I donât remember anything.â

He continued: âSo, Iâm in Atlanta, my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. He said âNahâ, gave me a cortisone shot. Next doctor said, âSomethingâs going on up there.â I wonât say it on camera.â
Now, it has been confirmed that Netflix will be airing a stand-up special from Foxx titled What Had Happened Was, which will give fans much more insight into the details of the incident.
âWeâre gonna get back to the stand-up sort of roots,â Foxx has said, while announcing that he will be performing for three nights from October 3-5 in Atlanta.

A few months after the emergency, Foxx took to Instagram to provide an update on his health, telling his followers that he was âfinally starting to feel like myselfâ.
âYouâre lookin at a man who is thankful,â he wrote. âFinally startin to feel like myself⊠itâs been an unexpected dark journey⊠but I can see the light⊠Iâm thankful to everyone that reached out and sent well wishes and prayersâŠâ

In December 2023, the actor appeared at an award ceremony hosted by Critics Choice Association, where accepted the Vanguard Award. In his emotional, 12-minute speech, Foxx told the audience that he âsaw the tunnelâ during his spate of illness.
