Korean-Canadian singer Jeon Somi will be releasing new music later this week, her label has confirmed.
Today (July 29), Jeon Somi’s K-pop agency The Black Label confirmed in a statement to Maeil Kyungje that she is set to release both a new song and music video this Friday (August 2) at 1pm KST.
However, the label has yet to announce more details about the release, including its title and whether it will be accompanied by a larger body in the future.
Somi’s upcoming single will come a year after she released her last mini-album, ‘Game Plan’, led by title track ‘Fast Forward’. Prior to that, she dropped her debut studio album ‘XOXO’ in October 2021.
Somiās first appearance in the music industry was on the 2015 reality TV series Sixteen, where she competed alongside 15 otherĀ JYP Entertainment trainees for spots in a girl group that would later become TWICE.
While the singer did not make the cut, she later participated in the first season ofĀ Produce 101Ā in 2016, where she finished in first place and became a member of the project girl groupĀ I.O.I.
In other K-pop news, GOT7 member Yugyeom has announced his 2024 ‘Trusty’ tour, featuring stops across Asia and Australia beginning in October this year. The idol will kick off his tour with a show in Singapore before moving on to cities such as Bangkok, Taipei, Sydney and more.
Meanwhile, Netflix has unveiled a brand-new teaser for its upcoming K-drama The Frog, starring Yoon Kye-sang, Kim Yun-seok and more. The new series will make its international premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 23.
