Jeremy Clarkson pub

Jeremy Clarkson has opened his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, in Oxfordshire. Fans have flocked to the village of Asthall to be welcomed by the Top Gear host, who has one house rule: no Keir Starmer.

The pub, formerly known as The Windmill, was renamed after Clarkson reportedly purchased it for “less than £1 million” earlier this year, per The Evening Standard.

On Friday (August 23), the pub was open to the public after a “soft launch” the day before hit some snags, as Clarkson told Times Radio. “The extractor system broke. Without that, the gas cuts off,” he tells Times Radio’s Cathy Newman. They weren’t able to serve food for “five and a half hours”, but luckily, things were back to normal once fans turned up at the pub’s doorstep.

The food served at the pub is made up of ingredients sourced entirely from British farmers, he adds. However, one local not welcomed is the current UK Prime Minster: “He’s banned. He’s the first person on the board in the hall to be banned.”

When asked by Newman why, he fakes a bad phone signal in jest before clarifying, “He hasn’t done much to endear himself to me yet.” Watch the interview below.

Per Evening Standard, Clarkson told customers at the opening: “Grab yourselves a pint, have some great food, enjoy yourselves, it is a nice day. And there’s no traffic chaos.”

Last June, Amazon Prime Video released season three of Clarkson’s Farm, which sees him attempt to run a farm on his 1,000-acre land in the Cotswolds, despite having no farming experience.

In August, Queen guitarist Brian May spoke out about Clarkson’s “laughable” views over the UK badger cull.

Clarkson has previously documented his struggles with badgers on Clarkson’s Farm, highlighting how the animals can damage property and also spread bovine tuberculosis to cattle.

May told The Telegraph: “I don’t think it’s Jeremy Clarkson’s fault because he doesn’t know, he’s a newcomer to this situation, but he’s been advised by someone who’s telling him that bovine TB can be passed by a cow sniffing a badger’s breath. It’s laughable.”
