Jon Bon Jovi has paid tribute to his mother Carol Bongiovi who has died.
The 83-year-old passed away yesterday (July 9) at the Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. No cause of death has yet been given.
“Our mother was a force to be reckoned with; her spirit and can-do attitude shaped this family. She will be greatly missed,” Bon Jovi said in a statement via People magazine.
The former Playboy bunny – who met her husband John Bongiovi Sr. after enlisting in the US Marine Corps in 1959 – was the founder of Bon Jovi’s fan club and operated several other businesses while raising her family in New Jersey.
In 2021, Bon Jovi sang in front of a large black and white portrait of his parents in their youth for the band’s ‘Story Of Love’ video, reinforcing just how long they’d been together.
Along with Jon Bon Jovi, his wife Dorothea and their four children, Bongiovi is survived by her husband, their two other sons, Anthony and Matthew and their respective families.
Her funeral service will be private and Holmdel Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangement, has set up a tribute page for messages of condolences here.
Bongiovi’s death comes just days after British record producer Peter Collins, who worked with Bon Jovi, passed away at the age of 73.
Meanwhile, Jon Bon Jovi recently attended his son Jake Bongiovi and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown‘s wedding.
The couple had been engaged since April 2023, having rumoured to be dating since June 2021.
