Jungle have kicked off a new era with a soulful new single, ‘Let’s Go Back’, ahead of their arena shows next week.

Their new single is the first since their regular collaborator Lydia Kitto joined the project full-time, expanding Jungle to a trio for the first time. Kitto first worked with founding members J Lloyd and Tom McFarland on their 2021 single ‘Keep Moving’ and later their 2021 album ‘Loving In Stereo’. She also has co-writing credits on every song from their 2023 album ‘Volcano’.

The accompanying music video, meanwhile, sees them continue their tradition of creating visuals with just one shot. Lloyd was involved in its creation alongside filmmaker Charlie Di Placido.

The new single arrives just before Jungle play some of their biggest headline shows to date next week in Cardiff and London. They are also lined up to play a DJ set at Belfast’s Custom House Square and at The Warehouse Project in Manchester’s Depot Mayfield.

SEPTEMBER
10 – Cardiff, Utilita Arena
12 – London, The O2
13 – Belfast, Custom House Square

All of the shows are in support of ‘Volcano’, which NME described in a four-star review as a “fiery sonic explosion” that “lacks human touch”. It added: “The duo’s fourth album sees them nail down their sound and vibes, but often struggles to do the soul it looks to evoke justice.”

Speaking to NME ahead of the release, J Lloyd reflected on leaning into more funk and soul elements for the new album. “There’s always been a tendency since the second record to insist that Jungle is an upbeat thing,” he explained.

“We tried to stop doing so many ballads and half-time tracks, because there’s other projects for that. People come to Jungle because they wanted to have a good time. It was this Chic and Daft Punk thing, somewhere between the two of them.”

Reflecting on Jungle’s London show at All Points East in AugustNME said in a five-star review that the duo brought “an array of soul-nourishing grooves”, topping the day with a “monstrously good set”.
