A few hours after the first viral photo was posted, Perry took to Instagram to share the pictures, along with a screenshot of a conversation she had with her mother, who had believed the pictures to be real.
“Lol mom, the AI got you too, BEWARE!,” she replied to her mom, who texted her “What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose Parade, you are your own float.”
Perry’s post was captioned: “Couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.” On the last slide of her post, Perry shared a muted video of her seeming recording a new track in the studio.
The post comes after Perry teased her return with an upcoming single, which she described as “one of her biggest” songs yet. Further details surrounding the single have yet to be revealed.
Perry released her sixth and most recent studio album,Ā āSmileā, in 2020. In a two-star review of the record,Ā NMEĀ wrote: āAs much as you want āSmileā to be a return to form, her fifth albumās songs fail to grip. All in all, āSmileā lacks the fireworks of Perryās record-breaking years.ā

Last December,Ā it was reported that the pop star was gearing up to release her āmost personalā material yet in 2024. It was said at the time that plans for a world tour were also underway.
Perry had previously hinted at her next albumĀ while on stage during her Las Vegas residency last summer. āIf you canāt love me at myĀ āWitnessāĀ or āSmileā era, then you canāt love me in my KP6 era,ā she told the audience.
