Kelly Rowland appeared to get into a tussle with a security guard on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival last night (May 21).
The former Destinyâs Child star was attending the premiere of the film Marcello Mio, a French-Italian comedy written and directed by Christopher HonorĂ©.
After posing for photographs, the 43-year-old scaled the steps into the main theatre, where she seemed to get into a heated exchange with a female security officer.
Photographs show the guard holding Rowlandâs arm to guide her into the venue, but Rowland raises a finger and appears to get into a verbal dispute with her.
Someone familiar with the situation told the Daily Mail that âthe people who are assigned to helping stars walk the red carpet were being aggressive and Kelly was trying to ignore it.â
âBy the time she got to the last woman she had had it because she scolded Kelly and told her to move when she was trying to wave to fans and help the paparazzi get their shot,â they added.
âShe doesnât care if she comes across like a diva if she knows that she is advocating for herself,â the source continued. âShe isnât fake and wanted to set a clear boundary.â
It follows another incident in February when Rowland walked out of an episode of NBCâs Today show that she had been scheduled to co-host. Rumoured to be due to a disagreement with co-host Savannah Guthrie, Rita Ora was forced to step in to co-host at the last minute.
Rowland was part of a Destinyâs Child reunion at last yearâs Super Bowl halftime show, alongside headliner BeyoncĂ© and Michelle Williams. Rowland and BeyoncĂ© also featured on Williamsâ gospel hit, âSay Yesâ, and can be seen in the music video.
More recently, Rowland, Williams and the other Destinyâs Child members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson attended the Los Angeles premiere of BeyoncĂ©âs concert film, Renaissance: A Film by BeyoncĂ©. In January, Williams and BeyoncĂ© also helped Rowland sing âHappy Birthdayâ to her husband at an intimate Las Vegas party.
