Kendrick Lamar and Drake

Kendrick Lamar‘s Drake diss track, ‘Not Like Us’ has been turned into an 8-bit video game.

The song, which recently became the most streamed hip-hop tune in a day on Spotify, was released as a video last week and in it the rapper takes aim at an owl piñata – a symbol famously associated with Drake’s label, OVO Sound.

Now, players can assume control of an avatar of Lamar, swinging a bat at an owl to a beepy version of ‘Not Like Us’.

The aim is to top the leaderboard with a score of 69, (also a cheeky nod to Lamar’s lyrics), and it can be played on desktops and smart phones. You can play it here.

The game was developed by Richie Branson, who previously worked on Epic Games’ Fortnite.

Since its release earlier in May, ‘Not Like Us’ has become a record-breaking success for Lamar. It became his fourth Billboard Hot 100 Number One single, following his feature on Future and Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That’, the song that ignited his feud with Drake this year.

At his recent ‘The Pop Out: Ken & Friends’ Juneteenth concert special held in Los Angeles, Lamar performed the diss track five consecutive times, bringing out Dr. Dre as a special guest to deliver the track’s opening line: “Pssst, I see dead people”. During the show, the rapper also included a new verse that called for Drake to return the ring Tupac wore at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, which the Canadian artist seemingly purchased at an auction.

Last month, the CEO of the Recording Academy, Harvey Mason Jr., also said ‘Not Like Us’ would be eligible for the Grammy Awards, explaining that while diss tracks were not commonly nominated, Lamar’s huge success with the awards in the past makes the inclusion likely. The rapper has won 17 Grammys so far.

Elsewhere, Drake was recently trolled by Argentina’s national football team after he lost a $300,000 (£234,238) bet against them.
