Steve Albini – the indie rock icon and legendary record producer – has died at the age of 61.
Per Pitchfork, Albini died of a heart attack in his recording studio, Electronic Audio. His death was confirmed by the studio’s staff members.
Known for fronting the likes of underground bands Shellac and Big Black, Albini was most known as the mastermind producer of Nirvana’s In Utero, Pixies’ Surfer Rosa, PJ Harvey’s Rid of Me and many more.
Shellac was getting prepping to head back out on tour their upcoming album ‘To All Trains’ which is set for release next week.
