Rap group Hot Boys

Lil Wayne has announced that his former 1990s rap group Hot Boys will be reuniting later this year – find out more below.

Yesterday (September 3), the ‘A Milli’ rapper took to social media to announce the return of his Lil’ Weezyana festival in New Orleans on November 2. The festival’s first line-up has been announced, and has confirmed the reunion of Hot Boys, marking their first onstage performance together since 2000.

Performing as part of the Hot Boys reunion are all founding members: Lil Wayne, Juvenile, BG and Turk. Rob 49 will also be performing at the festival, along with a special DJ set from Hot Boys producer Mannie Fresh. More acts are due to be announced for the festival in the coming weeks.

Lil’ Weezyana Fest is due to take place on November 2 at the Smoothie King Center. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now, while general tickets go on sale on Friday (September 6) via Ticketmaster.

Hot Boys formed in 1997 in Louisiana under the Cash Money banner and released their debut LP ‘Get It How You Live!’ that same year. The group would go on to release ‘Guerrilla Warfare’ in 1999. Between 1999 and 2000, the group recorded a third album ‘Let ’em Burn’ that was only released in 2003 after the group had disbanded due to contractual issues after Juvenile, BG and Turk left Cash Money Records.

Since the group’s disbanding, Lil Wayne has gone on to become the most prolific member of the Hot Boys. He has become known for his ‘Tha Carter’ series of albums, as well has his Young Money label with Nicki Minaj and Drake.

Lil Wayne most recently featured on Kanye West’s and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures 2’ album, where he dropped the line “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce,” Lil Wayne raps on the song ‘Lifestyle’, with the line referencing Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce, who has the NFL position as a tight end.
