Lily Allen has spoken out about how she once got revenge after a feud with a “beautiful A-lister”.
The singer opened up about the incident which happened while she was staying at Elton John‘s house in France on her Miss Me? podcast.
“This was when I was managed by Elton John’s company and I’d been sent to his house in the south of France to like dry out for a couple of weeks,” she said.
“And while I was there I got a phone call from somebody very famous at the time asking me if I could perform at a charity event that they were involved in she was asking me to sing a song with her boyfriend, who was a musician.”
She continued: “‘I said, ‘I’d love to but it’s next week and I haven’t got any time to rehearse because I’m in the south of France.’ She was like, ‘Don’t worry, we’ll come out there and we’ll rehearse with you.’
“They come to the South of France, they arrive, and it’s like late afternoon and she’s like, ‘I think you guys should sing [Simon & Garfunkel’s] ‘The Sound Of Silence’. And I was like, ‘Ooh, I don’t know about that, I really don’t want to – that’s out of my comfort zone’. And she got the right hump.”
Allen said suggested singing Frank and Nancy Sinatra‘s ‘Somethin’ Stupid’ instead and that she would go downstairs with the musician and practice the song.
She went on: “And she grabbed my arm and she said, ‘If you think I’m leaving you alone with my fucking boyfriend you’ve got another thing coming.’ I was on my own in this house and it was the two of them and just me, and she was quite a lot older than me, and a lot more famous and more successful, and I just thought, ‘I’m stranded and you’ve got me snookered.’
“Her boyfriend was not someone I found remotely attractive and she was incredibly beautiful – still is – and so should not have found me remotely a threat.”
Allen then shared the details of how she exacted her revenge on her by insisting she present her with an award she was set to receive near the end of the ceremony.
The singer said: “I was like, ‘There is no way this person will be able to hold themselves together for that long and if I can stay sober then she’ll have to present me with the award when I’m looking pristine and brilliant and she looks completely fucked.’ And it fucking worked. Front cover of the papers the next day were like, ‘So and so was a complete mess,’ and then pictures of me with my award.”
Despite exacting her revenge, Allen said “I actually really like” the person in question now.
She added: “It was just a particularly bad phase that both of us were going through at the time. All is forgiven on my part anyway. But she’s probably just finding out. So if you are listening and you recognise yourself in this story ‘I’m sorry.’ It was particularly petty.”
Meanwhile, Allen previously revealed that she held a grudge against Elton John for years because he didn’t reply to her letter – until realising that she hadn’t actually sent it.
Elsewhere, the singer recently revealed how her husband David Harbour reacted to her decision to create an OnlyFans page.
Allen launched her OnlyFans account towards the end of June to sell pictures and videos of her feet, and is currently charging $10 (£8) for a monthly subscription.
