Beabadoobee

Beabadoobee has returned with the latest single from her upcoming third studio album – listen to ‘Coming Home’ below.

‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ is set to be released on August 16 via Dirty Hit (pre-order/pre-save it here) and now the musician has shared the second taster of the record, in the form of ‘Coming Home’.

The song is informed by Beabadoobee’s love of The Beatles, and was written as a “cute little love song” as she missed her love ones while on tour in the US. Listen here:

“I wrote it in a hotel room in LA when I was away from my boyfriend, my loved ones, my two cats,” she has said. “It opens with all the little mundane things like doing the dishes, that I miss because I’m always away. Really, it’s just a cute little love song with a weird non-existent structure.”

She has also announced a North American tour to take place in September, kicking off in Philadelphia on September 8 and wrapping in Los Angeles on September 28 – see the full list of dates below. Tickets go on sale at 10am on June 6 here.

Last month, the artist released the album’s lead single ‘Take A Bite’. “It’s me feeling introspective about my thoughts and unhealthy way of living,” she said about the song. “It’s finding comfort in a familiar place – finding comfort in chaos, because that’s what I know. So I bring it into every aspect of my life, especially with relationships.

She continued: “It’s just tapping into this part of my brain where I just jump straight to the most negative, most chaotic thought ever known to man and make and make that into my reality.”

Speaking about the new album, Beabadoobee has said it has “helped me so much more than anything else has in navigating this new era, this new understanding of where I’m at. I guess it’s about becoming a woman.”

“I think I’m more aware of my actions in these songs,” the singer added, elaborating: “In my previous records, I would consistently sing about my reaction towards other people’s doings, like a blame game.

“But in this record, it’s accepting that there’s an inevitability of my fault in there too. Whether it’s childhood trauma or relationship issues, it takes two to tango in everything.”

‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves’ will be the follow-up to Beabadoobee’s second album, 2022’s ‘Beatopia‘. In our Big Read interview with the musician, she opened up about collaborating with The 1975‘s Matty Healy, saying he was “like an annoying older brother”, adding: “Matty’s amazing at lyrics, so he really helped me in that way. And he offers me so much advice about songwriting.

“And it’s really helpful having him in my life as a music mentor and as a friend who has amazing life advice. I think he has a way of finding a sentence that really fucking hits you.”
