Lana Del Rey has teamed up with Quavo for a new single, ‘Tough’.
The pair had been teasing the collaboration for some time, with the Migos rapper first hinting at working with Del Rey in a photo posted in May. A month later, they shared a snippet of the song, which ended up racking up 40million views on Instagram Reels.
The country-trap song sees them sing: “Tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boots/Like the blue-collar, red-dirt attitude/Like a .38 made out of brass/Tough like the stuff on your grandpa’s glass.”

It is currently unclear if ‘Tough’ will feature on Lana’s upcoming album ‘Lasso’, or if it will part of a larger Quavo project.
The pair had teamed up to debut their song live during Del Rey’s set at Fenway Park. However, it was very nearly axed as extreme weather conditions led to the site being evacuated shortly before the gig and the performance being pushed back.
Earlier this year, Lana Del Rey announced a new country album, ‘Lasso’. While the album has yet to receive a release date, the singer spoke to NME‘s Andrew Trendell in May. Though she didn’t reveal much about the album, Lana suggested that the album’s lyrics might be lighter than her more recent output.
“I’ve maybe less to say in terms of any self-revealing things like on ‘Tunnel’ or ‘Blue Bannisters’ or ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’, and just more melodic. Maybe more American Songbook style?”
She also opened up about a potential sense of vindication around the new project. “Maybe three years ago there would have been a sense of vindication, but now it just feels playful. I don’t know why,” she explained, looking at her recent successes. “If you hang in long enough, it just feels easy. There’s no vindication, no nothing – I’m just kind of happy to be here. It’s easy-going in that way.”
Lana Del Rey is due to headline Reading & Leeds 2024 over the upcoming August bank holiday (23-25). She’ll play Reading on Saturday, August 24 and Leeds on Sunday, August 25. Tickets are available to buy here.
