Will Smith performs at the 2024 BET Awards

Will Smith has shared a new single featuring Russ and his son Jaden Smith – you can watch its music video below.

Today (July 26), the veteran actor and rapper unveiled ‘Work Of Art’, a new track from his next album – which will be his first in nearly 20 years. ‘Work Of Art’ is an uplifting tune that sees Smith make peace with himself for his differing points of views on certain topics: “I am the tongue, truth and the lie, both in tandem“.

He also seemingly references his infamous slap against Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars: “I am a saint, but if you touch, I am a savage“.

The track features Jaden on the chorus, and Russ on a verse. Check out the music video for ‘Work Of Art’ below.

Spliced into the music video are clips of Will Smith and Russ having a conversation in a museum, where Smith reveals that he’s recorded over 20 songs for his new project, but ‘Work Of Art’ was the song that really spoke to him, and it encompasses what he wants to rap about.

Smith premiered a new song at the 2024 BET Awards last month, and first teased his upcoming album earlier in June.

Best know musically for ‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It’, ‘Men In Black’ and ‘Wild Wild West’, Will Smith has yet to release an album since 2005. His most recent solo release comes in the form of 2017’s ‘Get Lit’, while his most recent output was the 2020 Joyner Lucas cut ‘Will (Remix)’. Smith most recently joined J Balvin onstage at Coachella in April, where he performed ‘Men In Black’.

In June, singer-songwriter Teddy Swims revealed to NME that he recently recorded a song with his “hero” Will Smith. “I don’t know what’s going to happen with it and can’t confirm anything, but just being with him and learning knowledge and wisdom from someone who’s been through it all was crazy,” he said. “He’s the sweetest guy ever,” the Atlanta-born soul-pop singer-songwriter added.

In a two-star review of Bad Boys: Ride Or Die for NME, James Mottram wrote: “Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are on the beat once more with Bad Boys: Ride or Die – a noisy, unfunny fourth instalment that’s only made endurable by some raucous action scenes.”
