Wunderhorse have today (August 28) shared their new single ‘Arizona’ – check it out below.

The song is the latest to be taken from their upcoming album, ‘Midas’, which arrives this Friday (August 30) via Communion and is available for pre-save / pre-order here.

Last month’s ‘Silver’ marked the third single to be released from ‘Midas’ following ‘July’ and the album’s title track. The latest is an intimate acoustic recording of ‘Arizona’, performed by frontman Jacob Slater.

Listen to it here:

Previously speaking about the creation of the album, Slater said: “When we first went into the studio to make this record, the only thing we were sure about is how we wanted it to sound; very imperfect, very live, very raw; no frills. We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers like you’ve been locked inside the bass drum.”

Speaking to NME last weekend after their performance at Reading & Leeds Festival, Slater spoke about the band’s evolution in sound since their project.

He explained: “It’s just a natural development. We all toured lots together and a natural chemistry sort of happened. A lot of the album was written in the studio. I’d come up with the chords and the basic lyrics, but everyone would be there to sort of put their own unique print on it as it was happening, while [the songs] were still in this embryonic stage, rather than something that had been fully learned and fully realised. So everyone’s personality just naturally comes out a lot more.”

The band are also due to embark on a UK and Ireland tour later this year. Visit here for tickets and check out a full list of tour dates below.

‘Midas’ follows 2022’s ‘Cub’. In a four-star review of the album, NME shared: “‘[The album] is a goodbye to the Jacob Slater we previously knew, and a hugely exciting welcome to a songwriter finally becoming himself. You can envisage him making records like this for decades to come.”
