Loyle Carner announced that he is the father of a new daughter during his headline set at All Points East Festival last night (August 17).
The annual All Points East takeover of Victoria Park in London is well under way, with Kaytranada having headlined on Friday (August 16) and Carner taking the top of the bill yesterday.
Closing out a set that he described as āthe best night of my lifeā, Carnerās final track was āOttolenghiā, which includes the line, āSo I sit and start to wonder on the woman sheāll become / Wonder if Iāll have a son or a daughterā.
However, on this occasion, Carner tweaked the lyrics, this time rapping: āBecause now I have a son and a daughterā. The news that his new daughter now makes him a father of two was picked up on by the crowd, who cheered the good news.

At times during his set, Carner referred to the festival site as his ālocal parkā, adding: āI used to cycle through here every day to take my son to nurseryā.
As well as Carner, artists to appear at All Points East yesterday included Nas, AndrĆ© 3000,Ā Ezra Collective, Lianne La Havas, Flying Lotus, Cymande, Nubya Garcia, Lola Young andĀ SaintĆ©.
Remaining nights at this yearās All Points East include Mitski tonight (August 18), and then LCD Soundsystem on August 23 and Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service on August 25.
Loyle Carner released hisĀ Mercury Prize-nominated third album,Ā āHugoā, in 2022. In a four-star review,Ā NMEĀ described the project as the artistās āmost polished record yetā, adding: āItās personal, yet far-reaching.ā
He also received an honorary degree from the University of the Arts London (UAL) last month.
