Machine Gun Kelly has revealed that he lost $50,000 (ÂŁ39,000) playing Blackjack in Las Vegas.
Last week (August 8), the rapper made a surprise appearance with Jelly Roll at Las Vegasâ Allegiant Stadium to perform their recent collaboration, âLonely Roadâ.
The track, which nods to the John Denver classic with a reworked chorus, was worked on by the pair for two years, according to an Instagram post by Kelly last month (July 24).
â8 different studios, 4 different countries, changed the key 4 times, and this Friday youâll hear we finally got it right,â he wrote of the track.
During the performance of the duet in Vegas, Kelly admitted he went out to the Las Vegas casinos where he lost $50,000 playing Blackjack.
âI lost $50,000 on the blackjack table tonight,” he told the audience. “I need you all to go stream âLonely Roadâ and make that money back,â MGK said on stage, before he and Jelly Roll started laughing. You can watch the moment here.
After starting his career in rap with 2012 debut album âLace Upâ, MGK would then go on to transition into emo and pop-punk beginning with 2020âs âTickets To My Downfallâ. His new era of country music began earlier this year having covered The Chicksâ âThereâs Your Troubleâ at CMA Fest. He also continued his foray into country with a recent cover of Zach Bryanâs âSun To Meâ.
Speaking about his collaboration with MGK, Jelly Roll wrote on Instagram: âWhat makes this collab so beautiful is its two guys that came from the exact same kinda place with less than zero percent of making it out it. We have known each other for at least 15 years now.
âAnd in true young dumb fashion it was a tumultuous beginning and basically itâs because I was one of the many people that judged him before I gave him a chance. but over time Iâve had the honor of watching him become one of the biggest artist on earth but most importantly Iâve watched him become one of the best fathers and humans on earth.â
The pair last teamed up at CMA Fest in June.
