'Mafia: The Old Country'.

Take-Two Interactive and Hangar 13 have officially announced Mafia 4, with Mafia: The Old Country due out next year.

In 2022, it was confirmed an “all-new” Mafia game was in development following the success of Mafia: The Definitive Edition but Hangar 13 has kept details largely under wraps.

Last night (August 20) during Gamescom Opening Night Live, the studio finally confirmed Mafia 4 would be launching next year, and be called Mafia: The Old Country.

According to a press release, players will be able to “uncover the origins of organised crime with a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily”.

It continued: “Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

“Across the first three entries in the Mafia franchise, we introduced players to the world of the Mafia through brutal stories set in different eras,” said Nick Baynes, President of Hangar 13.

“In Mafia: The Old Country, we’re going back to the roots of what fans love about the franchise, crafting a deep, linear narrative with that classic mob movie feeling, visiting a stunning new setting, and delivering it all in a tight, focused package perfect for fans of immersive experiences.”

Mafia: The Old Country will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC during Take-Two’s 2026 financial year, which starts April 1, 2025 and runs until March 31, 2026. However, the studio has also given the game a launch window of 2025. Further details about the game are due later this year.

In other news, Indiana Jones And The Great Circle has finally been given a release date, while Xbox has also confirmed the title will be getting a PlayStation release.
