MAMAMOO singer Hwasa has covered Billie Eilish‘s hit single ‘Lunch’ in celebration of her 29th birthday.
MAMAMOO’s Hwasa turned 29 years old today (July 23), and in celebration of her birthday, the K-pop idol released an abridged cover of Billie Eilish’s ‘Lunch’, from the pop star’s latest album ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’.
Hwasa’s playful rendition of ‘Lunch’ covers the first half of the song, up until the second chorus, and stays largely faithful to the original. “I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I could never get enough,” she sings on the chorus.
It was released alongside a music video that features the K-pop idol performing the song in what appears to be a recording studio, intercut with clips of her dancing and holding up a birthday cake.
Hwasa’s last music output was the September 2023 single ‘I Love My Body’, which was a response to her public indecency controversy. The song was also notably her first under the Psy-founded label P Nation, which she signed to last year after leaving long-time agency RBW Entertainment.
