A man has been hospitalised after a shooting took place outside Drake’s home in Toronto.
The reports of a shooting were shared by CBC and Toronto’s CityNews, who each revealed that police and paramedics were called to the scene and a man had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to a new update by Toronto Police on X, the incident took place around 2:10am ET, near the corner of Bayview and Lawrence Avenues. Police who went to the scene found a man with serious injuries who was then taken to the Sunnybrook Hospital.
The injuries are not said to be life-threatening, according to comments shared to reporters by paramedics, and the police have also confirmed that Drake was not the victim.
Since news of the incident broke, new outlet The Toronto Sun went on to claim that the man shot was one of Drake’s security guards, however, this report has not been confirmed.
Representatives for the police and the rapper have not yet responded to requests for comment by Variety.
That being said, police did confirm to CBC that the ongoing investigation is taking place around Drake’s home, and there have been no descriptions provided for either the suspect or the vehicle they fled in.

As for this morning (May 7), the streets leading to the rapper’s home have been taped off and patrol cars remain in the area, as per CTV News.
The Toronto home has been a talking point in recent days, as fans recently renamed the residence on Google Maps in a prank related to the ongoing feud the Canadian rapper is having with Kendrick Lamar.
The two have been engaging in beef over recent months, each sharing a series of songs with increasingly personal verbal attacks over their musical ability and personal lives. The feud has seemingly come to a head in recent days – with the two of them releasing five songs over the weekend.
In the online prank, Drake’s home in Toronto was jokingly renamed “Kendrick’s Court” on Google Maps.
Similarly, the residence became another talking point in recent days as an aerial photograph of the house was featured in the artwork for ‘Not Like Us’, the latest release from Kendrick Lamar.
There does not seem to be any correlation between the ongoing musical battle and the shooting. This is a developing story.
