Margot Robbie is pregnant with her first baby, according to a new report.
Several sources have confirmed to People that Robbie and her husband – film producer Tom Ackerley – are expecting their first child together, although the couple themselves have yet to comment on the report.
Robbie and Ackerley, both aged 34, met in 2013 while filming the war drama Suite Française, in which Robbie played the character Celine and Ackerley served as assistant director.
They married in December 2016 in Australia, and were co-founders of the production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which has worked on titles including Barbie, Saltburn, Birds of Prey, I, Tonya and Promising Young Woman.
Robbie and Ackerley are careful with their private lives, and Robbie has spoken in the past about not appreciating being asked about becoming a mother when being interviewed for a role.
“It made me really angry,” she told Radio Times in 2019. “How dare some old guy dictate what I can and can’t do when it comes to motherhood or my own body? Unfortunately, it’s a conversation we’re still having.”
“I’m so angry that there’s this social contract,” she continued. “You’re married, now have a baby. Don’t presume. I’ll do what I’m going to do.”
As well as producing, Robbie starred in the biggest film of 2023, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, although many fans of the film felt she and Gerwig had been snubbed by the Oscars when they were not nominated in the Best Actress and Director categories.
Robbie reacted to the backlash by saying: “There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed.”
“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director,” she added. “What she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing. What she pulled off, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all the films.”
At the Oscars ceremony, Barbie picked up the prize for Best Original Song for Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’, and Ryan Gosling stole the show with his star-studded performance of ‘I’m Just Ken’.
