Marina has confirmed that she is currently working on her upcoming sixth album which will be released next year.
The singer â full name Marina Diamandis â opened up on what she is working on after her slot at BST Hyde Park where she served as opening support for headliner Kylie Minogue this past Saturday (July 13). Speaking to Attitude, the musician said: “I am working on a new record, and I am loving it. It will definitely be out next year.â Marina also hinted at new music with a tweet that simply read: “album six.”
She also spoke about her poetry book Eat The World â which is set to be published on October 29 via Penguin Random House â saying: “Iâm super excited about that. Itâs something thatâs a very different feel for me.â

The ‘How To Be A Heartbreaker’ singer also made sure to note that both the album and her book have nothing to do with each other, adding that the book “exists on its own thing. I canât focus on more than one project at a time. Itâs very difficult for me. I like committing fully, then moving on to the next thing. Iâll be doing some fun promo around it; lots of podcasts. Thereâs lots to talk about.â
Elsewhere in the interview, Marina reflected on opening for the Australian pop icon â who personally invited her to open for her on the date. “It was amazing! I love her as a human, and the crowd were pretty loving. Kylie has been one of my icons since I was 15 years old. Iâve been listening to her a lot the last year. I think we manifested this gig!” she said.
She added: âI havenât played a show for a year and a half, so it has been an interesting, the run-up to this show, being put on a stage when you havenât for a while.â
Since her breakthrough in 2009 â formerly under the name Marina And The Diamonds â Marina has released five albums, the latest of which being 2021âs âAncient Dreams In A Modern Landâ.
Speaking with NME at the time of the albumâs release, the singer confirmed that the LP was motivated by political factors, and saw her take less interest in gaining chart success than in her previous releases.
âWeâve seen an explosion of all of these social problems that have been building for years and years. Theyâve always existed, but some of us, including myself, have not really had an awareness of them or a full understanding⊠itâs impossible not to let that influence your music,â she said.
â[Other artists] might be looking for this perfect pop hook thatâs potentially going to get on radio or lead to commercial success. Whereas for me, I do feel like that ship has sailed,â she added. âIâve had those moments, but as an artist, thatâs not really what excites me anymore. Itâs more like, âWhat am I interested in at the time? And what do I want to explore in my songs?ââ
