Members of The Zutons and Echo & the Bunnymen joined Jamie Webster onstage at his recent homecoming concert in Liverpool – watch fan footage of those moments below.
At Sefton Park yesterday (July 12), Webster invited several guest musicians during a section of the set that comprised entirely of covers.
He began with a cover of Talking Heads’ ‘This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)’, where he was joined by singer-songwriter Brooke Combes, who performed as a support act earlier in the day. After which, he invited The Zutons’ Dave McCabe for a cover of the band’s ‘Valerie’, while Echo & the Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch joined for a cover of their 1997 single ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’.
Webster ended this portion of the set with a cover of The Real Thing’s ‘You to Me Are Everything’ – he added that the band were invited to join him onstage but were not in attendance that night.
A notable figure who was in attendance, however, was ‘The Royle Family’ actor Ricky Tomlinson, who gave a rousing speech about his hometown Liverpool prior to the band’s performance, which began with ‘Voice of the Voiceless’.

Prior to his performance, Webster spoke with the Liverpool Echo about the recent UK elections and praised, in particular, Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.
“She speaks with a northern accent. She’s been laughed at, she’s been held back in her career because of how she speaks. Her being in power, that’s refreshing to hear for a start,” he said. “The fact that the Rwanda scheme has been scrapped straight away, that’s instantly a step in the right direction.”
Webster will soon join a line-up that includes Liam Fray, Blossoms, Jake Bugg, and The Lathums, among others, for the Liam Gallagher & Friends: Malta Weekender festival that’ll take place on the island. The four-day event will take place from September 19 to 24.
