Militarie Gun

Militarie Gun have released their first single of 2024, ‘Thought You Were Waving’, along with a music video for the song.

Militarie Gun released the music video for ‘Thought You Were Waving’ on Wednesday (July 17), a day after the single was officially released on streaming platforms.

In the clip, the band’s members are seen blissfully going about their day as havoc wreaks around them – arsonists, murderers and kidnappers carry out their misdeeds with no protest from the spectating band members.

‘Thought You Were Waving’ arrives as the band’s first single of the year. However, in June, the band recorded a new song, ‘Gun Under The Gun (GUG)’, for the Post Malone-curated soundtrack of 2K’s WWE 2K24.

According to the band, they were given just 24 hours to create the track and took influence from Motörhead’s classic theme for WWE legend Triple H. “A wrestling intro needs to start big and iconic, get more aggressive, and then go heavier,” Shelton told New Noise Magazine. “That’s how the song ended up—starting big and spacey, then more aggressive, and finally half-time for a total beatdown.”

In January, the band released ‘Life Under the Sun’, which saw them rework songs off their 2023 album ‘Life Under The Gun’ by inviting collaborators from Manchester Orchestra, Bully and Mannequin Pussy. In March, the band added Blur’s ‘Song 2’ to their current tour setlist.

‘Life Under The Gun’ was named one of NME‘s best albums of 2023, where we said: “On their debut full-length, Militarie Gun’s approach to hardcore reflected the genre’s mainstream boom.

Militarie Gun are set to perform at Lollapalooza 2024 in August alongside Blink-182, Hozier, Tyler, the Creator, SZA and The Killers amongst others.
