More details about Sony’s Overwatch-inspired live-service sci-fi shooter Concord have been revealed.

Concord is the first title from Sony’s FireWalk Studios and was revealed last May after years of teasing.

Concord is a bringing together of peoples,” said an announcement blog. “It’s the power of games to build connections and inspire social play. The Firewalk team is driven by the type of exciting, unexpected moments and shared experiences that multiplayer games create. Every time you log on is the beginning of a new adventure and every match is an opportunity for a new story. It’s these ideals that define Concord, its unique universe of vibrant worlds, and its rich cast of colourful characters.”

During a recent State Of Play showcase, Sony confirmed that Concord would be a live-service 5v5 first-person shooter with combat inspired by fighting and strategy games, though most people have been comparing it to Overwatch.

“We built Concord as a love-letter to aspirational sci-fi adventure, inspired by our favorite art, anime, films, and TV series,” developers explained in a blog. “Combined with our deep love of multiplayer, we’re dedicated to creating those had-to-be-there, down to the wire moments with your friends and creating a sense of adventure as you discover more about the galaxy, the characters you play as, and the worlds you visit every time you log on,” they added.

A Beta test for Concord will take place in July before a full launch on August 23. Concord will be available for PC and PS5.

The Australian Sony store recently put the Concord pre-order page live (via ResetEra), and it seems the studio are hoping to copy the success of Helldivers 2.

The standard edition of Concord was available to pre-order for $59.95 AUD, while the Digital Deluxe Edition was available for $94.95. Helldivers 2 was available for the same price, suggesting Concord will retail for £34.99/£49.99 in the UK. Further details about pre-orders and beta access is due later this week.

In other news, the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase will reportedly run for two hours and feature 30 games, including a number of unannounced titles.
