Katie Gavin of MUNA performing live on stage

MUNA‘s Katie Gavin has announced her debut solo single, ‘Aftertaste’ – check out a preview below.

The lead singer of the Los Angeles pop trio is due to release the song next Tuesday (July 23). You can pre-save/pre-add it here.

Gavin has been sharing snippets of the forthcoming ‘Aftertaste’ on her TikTok profile.
My hair got long, your hair got cut/ You wear the same old sweater/ It’s good to see you, we’re catching up/ We’re talking ‘bout the weather,” she sings in an acoustic guitar-based verse.

As the gentle instrumentation picks up, Gavin adds: “And I’m the empress in my new clothes/ And I think that you must know/ When you’re taking pity on me, pretending you don’t see.”

Gavin has since posted some fans’ recreations of the video, writing: Lowkey one of you little babies make a dance for it please cause you know I can’t do it.”

MUNA – completed by Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson – have released three studio albums: ‘About U’ (2017), ‘Saves The World’ (2019) and ‘MUNA’ (2022). The latter came out via Phoebe Bridgers’ label Saddest Factory Records. Bridgers also featured on the single ‘Silk Chiffon’ from the LP.

In a four-star review of ‘MUNA’, NME said it was “clear that this lot know how to pen a whopper of a pop anthem – that remains apparent here – but more crucially ‘MUNA’ also serves as solid evidence of a band with many more chapters of evolution up their sleeves yet”.

MUNA recently released a live album, ‘Live At The Greek Theatre In Los Angeles’.

Earlier this year, the trio’s Naomi McPherson landed their first acting role as Janis Ian in Jason Reitman’s forthcoming film SNL 1975.
