Here are all this weekā€™s additions to theĀ NME 1 & 2Ā playlists:

On the A List

Wolf Alice

ā€˜How Can I Make It OK?ā€™

Wolf Alice are unstoppable right now. ā€˜How Can I Make It OK?ā€™, a single from their five-star album ā€˜Blue Weekendā€™, is a tour-de-force that showcases the London rockers at their most dynamic: a synth-led ode that explodes into a potent dance-ready stomper. It’s testament to their versatility ā€“ or as NMEā€™s Rhian Daly put it, the key to an album that cements ā€œtheir place at the peak of British musicā€. ā€“ JX Soo

Easy Life

ā€˜Homesicknessā€™

On ‘Homesickness’ Leicesterā€™s favourites wistfully yearn for how relationships used to be over gentle synth arpeggios and pulsing grooves. The nostalgia laced cut is cheeky soundtrack to sentimental thoughts, with vocalist Murray Matravers sighing: ā€œSwitch for me like Nintendo / And here Iā€™ve done it again though / The usual crescendo / And whilst Iā€™ve got your attention / For my basic animal instinct / Everything is stupid.ā€ ā€“ JXS

On the B List

Billie Eilish

ā€˜Lost Causeā€™

The latest single from Billie Eilish‘s upcoming second album ‘Happier Than Ever’ sees her abandon a disappointing past romance, and instead find power within herself: ā€œThought you had your shit together, but damn, I was wrong / You ainā€™t nothinā€™ but a lost cause / And this ainā€™t nothinā€™ like it oncŠµ was / I know you think youā€™re such an outlaw”. With minimal, jazz-flecked instrumentals that support Eilish’s sultry vocals, it’s another stellar cut from the teenage superstar. ā€“ JXS

Greentea Peng

ā€˜Free My People (feat. Simmy & Kid Cruise)ā€™

Greentea Pengā€™s powerful calls for liberty echo throughout the hypnotic groove of ā€˜Free My People.ā€™ ā€œThis for my people, yeah / Free all my people, yeah / All my people, yeah,ā€ she sings alongside Simmy and Kid Cruise on the songā€™s hook. Tasteful arpeggios and guitar licks colour the trackā€™s trance-inducing vocals to form a hazy, mesmerising experience. ā€“ Isaac Chiew

CHVRCHES

ā€˜How Not To Drown (feat. Robert Smith)ā€™

As CHVRCHES edge towards their fourth record ā€˜Screen Violenceā€™, theyā€™ve already got the ultimate collaboration in the bag: a track with their all-time hero, The Cureā€™s Robert Smith. Over dark and pounding production, Lauren Mayberry and Smith dive into the darkness: ā€œItā€™s better if I make no sound / I will never escape these doubts / I wasnā€™t dead when they found me, watch as they pull me down,ā€ they sing together. ā€“ JXS

Public Service Broadcasting

ā€˜People, Let’s Dance (feat. EERA)ā€™

ā€˜People, Letā€™s Danceā€™ is an apt title for Public Service Broadcastingā€™s latest. Drawing from clear-cut influences that include Depeche Mode and David Bowie, the track runs EERAā€™s ethereal vocals over rhythmic guitars, lush synthesisers and infectious dance rhythms, and it’s brilliant. ā€“ IC

On the C List

Sigrid

ā€˜Mirrorā€™

Sigridā€™s latest uptempo bop ā€˜Mirrorā€™ is a joyous ode to self-love and confidence. With her crystalline voice cutting through the trackā€™s sprightly production and a massively catchy chorus, it’s an exciting glimpse of the artist’s next project.Ā ā€“ IC

Black Midi

ā€˜Marlene Dietrichā€™

Demented character studies fill Black Midiā€™s brilliant second album ā€˜Cavalcadeā€™, but on ā€˜Marlene Dietrichā€™ the London experimentalists dial back their signature chaos. Wielding a mystical folk-based palette, they craft an oddly beautiful tribute to the screen icon: ā€œBut her hands loosen all and her voice brings you youth / Her cheeks cradle the holy breath that pumps the lungs of her Mackie Messer,ā€ Geordie Greep grandly sings. ā€“ JXS

Enny

ā€˜I Wantā€™

Enny fuses silky-smooth flows with thumping dance grooves on ā€˜I Want,ā€™ her brilliant new single that boasts impeccable house-leaning production from Paya. ā€œBut I want what I want and I want when I want it / I paved the way for you to make a move so get up on it / Keep holding yourself back you canā€™t make up your mind,ā€ she croons on the captivating hook. ā€“ IC

Jungle

ā€˜Talk About Itā€™

Stuffed full of propulsive drum and bass grooves and slick beats, Jungle’s latest single ā€˜Talk About Itā€™ is an irrepressible smash. For the second taste of their upcoming album ā€˜Loving In Stereoā€™ the duo have reunited with Inflo, who they last worked with on ā€˜Casioā€™, the runaway favourite from previous album ā€˜For Everā€™ ā€“ and their collaborative magic has been recreated here. ā€“ IC
