Noel Gallagher has responded to a fan in the crowd at Y Not Festival who asked him about the possibility of an Oasis reunion.
During the final stop of Gallagherâs High Flying Birds tour in which he headlined the Derbyshire festival this past Sunday (August 4), the musician responded to a fan’s question about Oasis potentially reuniting within the next couple of years.
“When are we going to see you? In 2025 or 2026? The answer is neither,” the singer told the fan with his response earning him jokey boos from the Y Not crowd. âIâll take the fact that youâre booing as a fucking compliment!”

He continued: “Well, this is the last night of our tour tonight… Weâve been on tour for over a year so weâre sick of the sight of each other. So, we need to get away from it for a while. I donât know if weâre gonna tour again, Iâve got no idea. But we will⊠Weâve got to make a record first. Weâve gotta write one.”
Concluding his response, Gallagher said: “Weâve gotta write one, gotta make one⊠do all that fucking shit. Weâve gotta go spend some money. I have no idea, I dunno but youâll be the first to know. Right, weâre all Oasis fans, right? Buckle up,â before jumping into the iconic band’s 1997 B-side ‘Going Nowhere’.
Gene Gallagher â Noel’s nephew and Liam Gallagher’s son â previously weighed in on the Oasis debate, and explained in a new interview that his dad wants the reunion to come to fruition.
âI get the feeling my dad wants it, too. Letâs hope it happens. Itâs easier to speak about after a couple of pints,â the guitarist and songwriter said during a discussion with The Times.
He also denied that he had been sworn to secrecy about the future plans and explained that heâd like to see it take place as much as the next fan.
âItâs nothing to do with meâŠI mean, will they? I donât know. I would love it but itâs so beyond my control,â he added, also confirming the he and Noelâs daughter AnaĂŻs have joked about staging an intervention for the brothers, but the two were âtoo smart for thatâ.
Rumours about an Oasis reunion came to a head earlier this summer, when Liam embarked on his âDefinitely Maybeâ anniversary shows, and speculation emerged that Noel would join him on stage.
Before the tour kicked off, Liam shared that Noel turned down an opportunity to reunite for the shows, and even suggested that he would âsend him a box of chocolatesâ as an apology for being âreally meanâ to him around the time of Oasisâ break-up in 2009.
More recently, Liam told his audience that Noel was âstill playing hard to getâ regarding a comeback for the band, and also replied to a fan who asked if a reunion of the band is happening next year.
The latter came as the Daily Mirror shared an exclusive report, claiming that the brothers had apparently booked dates for an Oasis reunion at Wembley Stadium this past July, before plans ultimately fell through.
Speculation about a reformation spans much further back than that though. For instance, speaking to NME in 2020, Liam said an Oasis reunion was âgonna happen very fucking soonâ, and Noel revealed in early 2023 that he would ânever say neverâ to the idea.
A dampener was soon put on any hopes though, as LG subsequently argued that his older brother had âdone a lot of damage to Oasis as a brandâ, and Noel claimed that his brother was too much of a âcowardâ to follow through with the idea, later accusing Liam of trying to ârewrite historyâ regarding Oasisâ âdreadfulâ final year together.
Since then, Noel discussed the possibility of an Oasis comeback during an interview with NME, adding that the reason why it hasnât happened yet was because there had ânever really been a serious offer about âThe Big Oâ getting back togetherâ.
In other news, Noel recently addressed a fan at one of his shows who claimed he can sing like Liam and responded with: “No one quite sounds like âr kidâ.
The interaction between the singer and the show attendee came a day after the frontman paused one of his gigs to roast a musician in the crowd over his haircut.
