Noel Gallagher’s daughter Anaïs has hit out at the “ageism” and “misogyny” swirling on social media following the announcement of an Oasis reunion.
The band announced their 2025 UK and Ireland reunion tour on Tuesday (27 August), inspiring overwhelmingly positive comments as fans reacted to the “biblical” news.
However, a smaller section of fans began sharing hypothetical concerns that they’d be beaten for tickets by young women just wanting to hear ‘Wonderwall’ live, which was amplified by the “unprecedented demand” for tickets.
“Imagine waiting 15 years for Oasis to reform only to lose out on tickets to Chloe, 21 from Stockport who just wants to hear ‘Wonderwall’ live,” wrote one fan. “If Oasis get back together,” wrote another, “I hope tickets are bought by people who want to be there and love their music. Not teenagers who only know ‘Wonderwall’!”
Anaïs Gallagher has now responded to those sentiments in a TikTok comment, writing: “One thing I won’t stand for is the ageism and the misogyny around people getting tickets.”
She made the remarks underneath a video by TikToker Josie Cannell, who also pointed out that the younger fanbase weren’t just hopping on the bandwagon following the reunion news, and that Oasis have long been considered “one of the most famous bands in the whole entire world”.
Canell’s video was captioned: “Babe, it’s Oasis, they’re not an unknown underground independent artist,” while Anaïs’ comment continued: “Sorry if a 19-year-old girl in a pink cowboy hat wants to be there, I will have my friendship bracelets ready.”
As was pointed out by NME’s Rishi Shah, Oasis have captured the hearts and minds of Gen Z across the board, with “Liam’s solo career in bringing the wider Oasis catalogue live and direct” to a younger generation of fans.
“As the UK prepares for the great ticketing war on Saturday at 9am, there will be plenty of new kids on the block, crouched over their laptops, praying to have the chance to finally see Oasis, alongside returning punters who have long craved that unmatched dose of nostalgia,” wrote Shah.
“It’s intriguing to gauge just how far demand will stretch, especially in comparison to Taylor Swift’s recent ‘Eras Tour’ or the 2.5million who applied for Knebworth tickets in 1996.”
As for Anaïs, 24-year-old has herself been exposed to unsavoury social media commentary, having been branded a “nepo baby” – despite admitting it would be “tone deaf and irresponsible” if she didn’t admit the “leg up” in life her upbringing had given her in a 2022 interview with the Daily Mail.
