Kathy Burke has spoken out on the potential on a Kevin and Perry revival following numerous requests from Oasis fans.

Burke, who played sidekick Perry to Harry Enfield’s Kevin The Teenager, went viral again  following the news of Oasis’ reunion tour thanks to an old sketch starring the Manchester band’s hit ‘Wonderwall’. In the sketch, Perry hilariously returns from Manchester as a converted Oasis fan.

The actress responded to the sketch going viral on social media, writing: “Very nice to see this doing the rounds again. When I was a little kid I used to go to Manchester and come back with the accent. Harry and Paul thought this was very funny so wrote the sketch. The timing was perfect.”

But following calls from fans to revive the two characters, Burke has shot down any rumours of a Kevin and Perry reunion.

She wrote: “Lots of requests for myself and Harry to revive Kevin and Perry since Oasis announcement. It’s not gonna happen. Mainly because I’m now 60 and H is 108 but thanks ever so for the love”.

In 2022, there was a special club event held in Ibiza to mark the the film’s 20th anniversary, with COVID having disrupted original plans for 2020.

Seb Fontaine, the actual DJ in the film who curated the soundtrack (and who played at the anniversary events) said of the film: “What’s astonished me about Kevin and Perry is that its appeal spans the generations.

“Each track from its soundtrack is familiar to everyone between the ages of 13 and 50. Having been involved in the movie’s soundtrack, and having been in Ibiza when it was filmed 20 years ago, I could never have imagined that K&P would have such enduring musical and cultural significance.”

In other news, Oasis have reassured fans over pre-sale ballot confirmation email after an “unprecedented volume of entries”.
