On July 24 at 6pm KST, WM Entertainment girl group OH MY GIRL unveiled the music video for their new single ‘Summer Comes’ from their ninth mini-album ‘Golden Hourglass’, which was released at the same time.
The whimsical new visual opens with the girl group entering an ice cream shop in a strange new world where they are surrounded by colourful ghosts. The members escape, only to find themselves surrounded by zombies.
Seeking refuge in a car, the girl group are suddenly sent to a stage filled with waterslides in the middle of the ocean where they dance to the new track.
“Over the waves, to my two ears / Summer’s voice whispering in secret / Come to me, come to me, put it all on me / My heart flutters, I want to listen with strained ears,” they sing on the upbeat chorus.
The new album includes a total of six tracks, all of which were co-written by rapper Mimi. These include ‘Celebrate’, ‘My Type’, ‘Dirty Laundry’ and ‘Paradise’.
‘Golden Hourglass’ follows the release of OH MY GIRL’s April single ‘Miracle’, which is also included in the new record. That song, which commemorated the eighth anniversary of their debut, had also been their first release as a six-member group after the departure of original member Jiho in May 2022.
The singer had addressed her departure from the girl group in a hand-written letter, in which she wrote: “In the future, I will be supporting OH MY GIRL’s promotions as a member of Miracle (the group’s fanbase) and not as a member of OH MY GIRL.”
The new mini-album is also the group’s first official comeback since the release of their second studio album ‘Real Love’ in March 2022. Meanwhile, member YooA made a comeback as a soloist last November with her sophomore mini-album ‘Selfish’.
Back in May, YooA also starred in Korean-American rapper and singer Jay Park’s music video for ‘Candy’, appearing as his love interest.
