Papa Roach Carrie Underwood

Papa Roach have been raising money for suicide prevention by appearing on TV game show Family Feud and releasing a new song with Carrie Underwood.

Last Tuesday (July 30), Papa Roach appeared on Celebrity Family Feud to battle Daughtry for the top prize of US$25,000, which they ultimately won for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP). See clips below.

Today (August 2), the band released a new version of their 2022 song ‘Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)’, now featuring Carrie Underwood. A portion of the proceeds from both the single and their Celebrity Family Feud appearance will also go to the AFSP.

“We were humbled that Carrie was open to our mission, and hearing the power of Carrie’s voice in that recording session we were blown away,” Papa Roach said in a statement, per Stereogum. “Not only is her vocal ability unequalled, but the impact of her voice brings a new meaning to our cause and will help people all over the globe.”

It’s an honor to have a ‘Rock Star’ bring life to this track with us,” the band added. In the past, the band have performed the song live in dedication to Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington.

Next year, Papa Roach will play their only UK show at the OVO Wembley Arena on February 7. “The UK has always been special to us – so we wanted to celebrate this music with you all in a BIG way and I can’t wait to step on that stage,” Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix said in a statement.

Shaddix opened up about his mental health in 2021, and discussed “falling off the wagon” during the pandemic. “I just got caught up and depressed and just stuck in this space,” he said at the time. “And I wasn’t working an active program of recovery, and I found myself with a joint in my mouth, you know? And yeah, it’s legal in California, and yes, it is medicine to some people, but it’s not to me.”
