Robbie Williams Oasis Liam Gallagher

Robbie Williams covered an Oasis classic at his big homecoming concert in Stoke-on-Trent last night (June 4).

The pop star performed at Vale Park in his hometown ā€“ the stadium where his football team Port Vale play.

During the gig, Williams aired versions of Take That songs including ā€˜Do What U Likeā€™ and ā€˜Could It Be Magicā€™, before launching into a version of Oasisā€™ ā€˜Donā€™t Look Back In Angerā€™. According to the Stoke Sentinel, the singer told fans at the gig that he was kicked out of Take That for ā€œgoing to Glastonbury and hanging out with the Gallagher brothersā€.

Later in the concert, the star debuted Port Valeā€™s new home kit during the encore and lifted the clubā€™s new playoff trophy on stage. Watch fan-shot footage of the moments below.

Robbie Williams played:Ā

ā€˜Let Me Entertain Youā€™
ā€˜Monsoonā€™
ā€˜Land Of 1000 Dancesā€™
ā€˜Strong’
ā€˜Come Undoneā€™
ā€˜Do What U Likeā€™
ā€˜Could It Be Magicā€™
ā€˜Donā€™t Look Back In Angerā€™
ā€˜Karma Killerā€™
ā€˜Bodiesā€™
ā€˜Love My Lifeā€™
ā€˜Millenniumā€™
ā€˜Hot Fudgeā€™
ā€˜No Regretsā€™
ā€˜Kidsā€™
ā€˜Feelā€™
ā€˜Rock DJā€™
ā€˜Glad All Overā€™
ā€˜Better Manā€™
ā€˜Sheā€™s The Oneā€™
ā€˜Angelsā€™
ā€˜Feel (a cappella)ā€™

Williams has a checkered history with the Gallaghers, with the two parties embroiled in a feud since the mid-90s when the singer challenged Liam to a boxing match. Williams recently shared that the war of words with the former Oasis members had left him depressed.

ā€œLiam said that I should be hung, you know,ā€ he recalled. ā€œFamously, Noel said I was ā€˜the fat dancer from Take Thatā€™.ā€ He added that he was ā€œfar too sensitive to the job that I found myself doingā€.

Williams also famously challenged Liam to a fight at the 2000 BRIT Awards, and told Noel to ā€œkiss my perfectly formed backsideā€ onstage in 2010. The brothers responded in kind, with Liam calling him ā€œa fat fucking idiotā€ in 2013.

In 2019, he called on his fans to have a go at Liam during one of his Las Vegas residency gigs. ā€œIf you have enjoyed the show, I have been Robbie Williams,ā€ he said at the end of his performance, The Sun reported at the time. ā€œAnd if you havenā€™t and you are upset about anything, I have been Liam Gallagher.ā€

Earlier this year, Noel described Williamsā€™ hit song ā€˜Angelsā€™ as ā€œOasis by numbersā€. ā€œIā€™ve heard it and thought, ā€˜I wish Iā€™d written that,ā€™ā€ he said during an appearance on The Matt Morgan Podcast. ā€œā€˜Angelsā€™ is Oasis by numbers. Add a fucking electric guitar on it and it would be.ā€
