Robbie Williams and Noel Gallagher split image

Robbie Williams has had his say on the Oasis reunion, and there’s a cheeky dig at Noel Gallagher in there too.

The singer had a famous feud with the Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam, in the 1990s. Noel referred to him as “the fat dancer from Take That”, while Robbie went on to challenge Liam to a £100,000 fight at the 2000 Brit Awards.

They started out as friends, however, and were pictured partying with each other at Glastonbury in 1995 shortly Williams left Take That – something he later described as the “start of his new life”.

For the most part, it looks as though they’ve buried the hatchet since then– and Williams has spoken highly of Liam in the years since.

And now, Williams has said of the reunion tour, which will take place across the UK and Ireland next summer: “The soap opera alone will either be exciting and or ghoulish to watch. As for the shows? They’re gonna be incredible, off-the-scale special,” before going as far as calling it a “healing moment for our country.”

He continued, “Liam Gallagher reading his phone on the toilet would be more charismatic and intriguing than 99.9% of the world’s population at their most enigmatic. All he has to do is stand there and sing for the audience to be guaranteed their money’s worth,” before a slight jibe at his brother: “Noel will be there too.”

Meanwhile, Williams also revealed that the Gallagher brothers are set to feature in his upcoming biopic, Better Man, and said they “come over well in it”.

In 2022, the former Take That man offered his thoughts on Liam’s Knebworth shows, too. When NME asked him if he’d like to play Knebworth again himself – he played three shows there in 2003 – he said: “To go and do three again? I dunno … I don’t know if you revisit [Knebworth], though. Do you revisit it? I’m sure we’d do OK if we sold tickets as cheaply [as Liam].”

Williams did clarify, adding: “Can I just apologise for saying the ‘cheaply’ thing – if you write that, can you say I apologise; I was being bitchy.”

Later in 2022, Liam spoke out about Williams’ comments labelling Oasis as “bullies” in the 1990s. After Williams told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that Oasis were “gigantic bullies” at the time, Liam wrote on social media: “I’ve never bullied anyone in my life I’m a massive piss taker for sure and probably gone a little too far sometimes, but if I’ve ever hurt anyone’s feelings I apologise.”

In other Robbie news, he told fans earlier this week that a new album will be coming soon, while he’s also working on “building hotels”. It’s set to be his first album since the September 2022 compilation ‘XXV’, and first studio album since his 2019 release ‘The Christmas Present’.
