Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds has written a scene in wife Blake Lively’s new thriller It Ends With Us, it’s been revealed.

On the red carpet for the film’s premiere yesterday evening (August 6), Lively told E! News that her husband wrote a key scene in the film, which is based on the 2016 bestselling book by Colleen Hoover.

The scene in question sees Lively’s character Lily first meet’s Justin Baldoni’s Ryle in the film, whom she eventually marries. Baldoni also directed the film.

Lively told the outlet: “The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that, but you now.”

Speaking about Reynolds, Lively added: “He works on everything I do. I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.”

The film arrives in cinemas on August 9.

Meanwhile, Lively also made a surprise appearance as Lady Deadpool in Reynolds’ summer blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine. Their children, Inez and Olin, also appeared as Kidpool and Babypool.

Deadpool & Wolverine was released worldwide on July 26, and was co-written by Reynolds, who reprises his role as the regenerative antihero, alongside Hugh Jackman as the mutant X-Men figure.

The film saw both characters finally integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it serves as the latest entry in Phase Five of the saga, following on from November’s The Marvels.

The movie has already broken the record for the highest opening weekend for an R-rated film, bringing in approximately $205million in North America, surpassing the previous record, held by the first Deadpool film. Its global total after one weekend stands at $438million, the eighth largest opening of all time.

In a three-star review of the film, NME wrote: “Despite the A-list distractions (no spoilers here), Deadpool & Wolverine is really all about Reynolds and Jackman. In fact, it’s really all about Reynolds – with Jackman doing a heroic job of playing the surly straight man trying to keep up with Reynolds’ sweary killer clown. The first two Deadpool films were funny and violent and original, but this one shows Marvel’s most gloriously inappropriate superhero at his very best and worst.”
