Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter and Kim Kardashian

Sabrina Carpenter has said that there is no tension between her and Taylor Swift, following her recent campaign with SKIMS.

The speculation about the friendship between Carpenter and Swift came into question when the former partnered up with SKIMS – the clothing brand founded by Kim Kardashian – earlier this year.

Previously, Carpenter had joined Swift as a support act for many of her huge ‘Eras’ tour dates, and openly shared her appreciation for the pop star on a number of occasions. However, some fans weren’t happy about the collaboration with Kardashian, given the reality star’s ongoing feud with the ‘Midnights’ singer.

Swift and Kardashian’s relationship has been a topic of public scrutiny since 2016, when Kardashian defended her then-husband Kanye West’s mention of Swift in his track ‘Famous’, in which he claimed he “made that bitch famous”.

She then insisted that Swift had given him permission to include her in the song and released footage of a phone call between Swift and West about the inclusion of similar lyrics to those that were released, which Swift has since said was recorded “illegally” and “edited”.

Swift addressed the situation again in her December 2023 Time Person of the Year interview. “That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before,” she claimed at the time. “I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”

More recently, she dropped a track on ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ that many speculate is about her feud with Kardashian. Titled ‘thanK you aIMee’, the capitalised letters in the title spell out ‘KIM’, and its lyrics are about a “bronze, spray-tanned” high school bully that some have claimed make reference to the reality star.

Now, Carpenter has shared that there is no bad blood between herself and Swift due to the SKIMS campaign and that she wasn’t even aware of the degree of hostility between them.

“As much as people want to believe you’re tuned into every little thing, I’m not because I’m constantly working,” she said during a new interview with Rolling Stone.

“In that scenario, I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end,” she continued. “So it was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that’s all they have time to do.”

She also went on to sing Swift’s praises again in the discussion and share her love for the singer’s catalogue.

“I could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything close to what she’s done,” she said. “She always puts out music at a time where I didn’t realise I needed those songs.”

“We’re very, very verbal with each other about our mutual love and admiration. … She played me ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ before it came out, and that’s also one of my favourites.”

In other Taylor Swift news, the singer recently confirmed that her career-spanning show, the ‘Eras’ tour, will come to an end this December. The tour began in March 2023, and has recently crossed its 100th show. Swift will perform for one night in Cardiff today (June 18) and three in London’s Wembley Stadium on June 21-23. She then heads to Dublin on June 28, before taking the tour around Europe.

As for Sabrina Carpenter, the ‘Espresso’ singer gave her latest song ‘Please Please Pleaseits live debut at Gov Ball 2024, and was also accused of copying a French magazine for the artwork of her new album without giving the publication credit.
