SiR Toronto

A concert by SiR in Toronto was cancelled seemingly out of nowhere, with speculation that it has to do with the venue’s ties with Drake.

On July 18, he quote-tweeted a fan’s concerned tweet about his show meeting the same fate as his labelmate ScHoolboy Q, whose own show in Toronto on July 18 was also suddenly cancelled by venue History. “My shit ain’t cancelled,” SiR wrote.

Last Tuesday (July 30), he quote-tweeted his own tweet to correct himself: “This shit didn’t age well at all….” He then broke the news: “So sorry to my Toronto fans. The show has been cancelled. We’re working on rescheduling for a later date.”

ScHoolboy Q poked fun at the situation, telling SiR to “sing on the bus” home because it’s “over with you”. SiR quote-tweeted with a laughing emoji and wrote: “They DON’T like us”, seemingly a stab at Kendrick Lamar’s wildly popular Drake diss track ‘Not Like Us’.

He further fuelled speculation after clarifying that the show was sold out, but the venue decided to cancel it. “Not sure why,” he wrote. “My apologies again to those that came just to see me.”

The 2,500-capacity venue History, which is owned by Live Nation, is known as the brainchild between the concert giant and Drake. Live Nation has yet to respond to press queries about the concert cancellations for SiR and ScHoolboy Q.

Drake collaborator Gordo recently spoke out on the infamous beef. In an interview with People, Gordo maintained that Drake has “been past it” since it happened.

“The internet makes it seem like, ‘Oh, that photo, he’s all sad and shit.’ That’s just a bad photo from a bad camera,” he said. “But because it’s him, it’s put under a magnifying glass like, ‘Oh, look at his eyes. He’s looking a little droopy. He hasn’t slept.’ But the guy’s been happy as shit, to be honest. He’s chilling.”

Despite Gordo’s claims, however, it seems Drake has not yet shaken off the much-publicised battle. The rapper is reportedly working on his next response to Lamar, according to streamer and personality DJ Akademiks, while Drake referenced ‘Not Like Us’ in a recent social media post.
