Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 reviews are in, and they’re incredibly positive.

So far, Space Marine 2 has got a Metacritic score of 83, with 37 positive reviews and just two mixed reviews. It’s a strong start to the sequel of 2011’s Space Marine.

Eurogamer wrote, “Space Marine 2 knows how to put on a show,” and praises the grand scale of the game. “It’s a gloriously extravagant depiction of the 40k universe, and also a game that feels genuinely next-generational in its presentation.”

The game’s campaign is only around 12 hours long according to most reviews, but the co-op mode seems to be the real star of the show. Kotakus review reads that it is “a really awesome and in-depth co-op PvE mode that offers a lot of replayability.”

Others are reveling in the gore and reminiscing about games past. “As I thrust my Chainsword into the chest of a Tyranid Warrior and split the vile Xenos in half, I can’t help but be reminded of 2016’s Doom,” reads GameSpot‘s review-in-progress.

Not all critics love the game, however. While Games Hub praises the combat, stating “every element of its third-person action, from movement to gunplay to melee, all feel appropriately super-weighty and intensely visceral,” it also claims Space Marine 2 is “deeply uninterested in being anything other than a whole lot of very beautiful fire and noise.”

Others don’t seem to mind the game’s preference for style over substance, with Before You Buy‘s Jake Baldino writing, “the game feels like a classic package: a bombastic campaign with spectacle and thrills + fun uncomplicated multiplayer. Just what the doctor ordered in these times.”

Space Marine 2 is available to buy September 9.

In other news, Zedd has made his Roblox debut in UMG’s Beat Galaxy world where fans can listen to his new single, ‘Lucky’.
