Netflix's 'Squid Game: The Trials'

A Squid Game live experience is set to open in New York ahead of season two of the Netflix K-drama.

Entitled Squid Game: The Experience, contestants will be able test their skills and strategies in challenges inspired by the series including red light, green light under the big robotic doll, Young-hee’s watchful eye at Manhattan Mall from October 11.

It will be open from Thursdays to Mondays from October 11, with individual and group tickets going on sale next Wednesday (August 21) 10am ET (3pm BST) here.

The New York experience will also include a night market with Korean-inspired food, snacks, cocktails and a “Squid Mart,” with collectibles and merchandise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is also planning to open other Squid Game experiences in Europe and Asia later this year.

Interactive games company Immersive Gamebox and Netflix previously launched a real-life Squid Game multiplayer game in the US and UK in September 2022.

There has since been a live Squid Game experience in Los Angeles last year entitled Squid Game: The Trials.

Meanwhile, season two of Squid Game is due to premiere later this year. A teaser trailer for the series dropped yesterday (August 12).

Season two’s release date of December 26 was announced earlier this month, alongside the news that the show had been renewed for a third and final season.

The new episodes will continue the story of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the winner at the end of season one, as the character becomes “determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport”.

Gi-hun uses his winnings to “fund his search” as he realises “the path toward taking down the organisation proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it”.
