Stray Kids have announced their long-awaited comeback with a new mini-album, ‘ATE’, due out next month.
JYP Entertainment revealed today (June 19) that Stray Kids will be releasing ‘ATE’ on July 19 at 1pm KST or midnight EST. Alongside the announcement was a brief trailer, where the eight-piece parody a commercial for a fortune cookie named after the mini-album, said to bring good fortune.
When the trailer switches to reality where the Stray Kids members gather to open their fortune cookies, they discover that the cookies come with a twist if you end up with a slip that says ‘Your luck will no longer last from now on’. Stray Kids have since release more teasers that expands on the concept of the fortune cookie, focusing on different duos from the group.
The respective 18-second teasers spotlight Bang Chan and Hyunjin, Lee Know and Felix, I.N and Changbin as well as Han and Seungmin. However, additional details such as the album’s lead single, track list and more will be announced at a later stage.
According to South Korean outlet OSEN, the mini-album will “contain Stray Kids’ unique cheerful energy and bold ambition to dominate the domestic and international music market this summer”. The title is also a double entendre that ties back to the number of members in Stray Kids.
The forthcoming release of ‘Ate’ will both mark Stray Kids’ first record since they released the mini-album ‘Rock-Star’ – led by ‘LALALALA’ – in November 2023. Last month, they released their first English single ‘Lose My Breath’, which featured American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth.
