System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian has announced his new band Seven Hours After Violet and has shared his plans for a debut album.

Seven Hours After Violet – comprised of Odadjian, vocalist Taylor Barber, guitarist Michael Montoya (aka Morgoth Beatz), guitarist and backing vocalist Alejandro Aranda and drummer Josh Johnson – are set to release their first self-titled LP on October 11 via Sumerian Records imprint 1336 Records. You can pre-order the limited-edition milky clear black galaxy 2xLP vinyl here.

The announcement of their LP comes alongside the group’s release of their second single ‘Radiance’. The heavy track features thrashing drums with chugging guitars as Barber sings: “Radiant / I see you for who you are / Radiant / I see you for who you are,” in the chorus. The track follows their lead single ‘Paradise’ which was released back in June.

‘Seven Seconds After Violet’ tracklist is:

1. ‘Paradise’
2. ‘Alive’
3. ‘Sunrise’
4. ‘Go!’
5. ‘Float’
6. ‘Glink’
7. ‘Cry…’
8. ‘Abandon’
9. ‘Radiance’
10. ‘Gloom’
11. ‘Feel’

Speaking about the album, Odadjian said (per Kerrang!): “This album is the culmination of years of creative exploration. With Seven Hours After Violet I wanted to return to my roots in heavy music but also bring something entirely new to the table.”

Last year, Odadjian spoke to the 96.7 KCAL-FM program Wired In The Empire about his solo LP, and shared: “I started this solo project with Morgoth Beatz; he’s my producer and he’s also the guitar player for the group. And it’s heavy. I’m back to my roots — no hip-hop. I think it’s the heaviest I’ve ever been, and it’s just flowing out of me.

“We have a track with — I’m gonna say it — Jonathan Davis [KoRn],” Shavo revealed. “I’m working on that one right now. We have the choruses and the first verse, and I’m gonna do a little breakdown, and I think we’ve got one. That’s 12 — number 12. So we’re 12 songs into the solo record. I’m very excited about that.”

In other news, System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian recently shared that he’d be open to the band continuing with a new lead singer.
