Tanya Roberts actress A View To A Kill James Bond girl Stacey Sutton dead at 65

Tanya Roberts, the actress who starred in That ’70s Show and James Bond’s A View To A Kill, has died the day after she was prematurely declared dead.

After her partner Lance O’Brien mistakenly revealed that Roberts had died on Sunday (January 3), he has now confirmed to TMZ that Roberts died last night (January 4) at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

The 65-year-old had collapsed on Christmas Eve after going for a walk with her dogs, TMZ had previously reported. She was then admitted to hospital, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Despite reports from her representative Mike Pingle that she died on Sunday (January 3), O’Brien received a call from the hospital mid-interview with Inside Edition yesterday (January 4) telling him that Roberts was still alive.

“Now you’re telling me she’s alive? Oh thank the Lord, thank God,” O’Brien said over the phone. “The hospital is telling me she’s alive,” he added. “They’re calling me from the ICU team.”

O’Brien said that due to hospital coronavirus protocols, he was not permitted to be at Roberts’ bedside until what he thought were her final moments. He was also reportedly told by hospital staff that Roberts “had no hope to live”.

News of Roberts’ death was shared yesterday by Pingle, who was told by O’Brien that Roberts had “faded away” while in his arms, before he left the hospital without speaking to doctors.

The news of her death was then officially retracted by Pingle, as The Guardian reported, following O’Brien explaining his mistake.

Roberts was not ill in the days leading up to her collapse, even conducting Zoom ‘shows’ and live chats with fans as recently as December 19.

The actress, who was born Victoria Leigh Blum in the Bronx, New York, made her acting debut in 1975 with horror film Forced Entry. She is arguably best known for her role as Bond girl Stacey Sutton opposite Roger Moore in 1985’s A View To A Kill, which was Moore’s last outing as 007.

She is also known for film roles in Beastmaster, Sheena, Night’s Eyes and Almost Pregnant.

As for television roles, Roberts joined ABC’s Charlie’s Angels in its fifth and final season. In the late ’90s, she had a recurring supporting role in That ’70s Show as Midge Pinciotti, mother of Donna (Laura Prepon). She left the Fox sitcom in 2001 after its third season, reportedly to care for her terminally ill husband.
