The Breeders’ Kim Deal has announced her debut solo album ‘Nobody Loves You More’ and has shared her eccentric new single ‘Crystal Breath’.

‘Nobody Loves You More’ is set for release on November 22 via 4AD and marks her first full-length release under her own name. Along with the announcement of the LP, Deal has shared ‘Crystal Breath’ the second single to be released from the album.

The ominous and eccentric track sees Deal sing: “My crystal breath shatters in you / The freak in my reflection sparkles into view / Let’s start a new life,” in a spoken word vocal with an eerie and spooky beat. The song follows her previously released track ‘Coast’.

Directed by Alex Da Corte, the track’s accompanying music video sees the musician sway back and forth in front of a green screen.

‘Nobody Loves You More’ has been in the works for many years. Back in 2013, Deal released a five-part, ten-song seven-inch vinyl series with some of the tracks featured on that making the cut on her debut LP.

The album was written and produced by herself alongside the late and great Steve Albini who engineered the LP at Electrical Audio – his studio in Chicago. ‘Nobody Loves You More’  features contributions from her twin sister Kelley Deal, their Breeders bandmate Jim MacPherson, Josh Klinghoffer, Savages’ Faye Milton and Ayşe Hassan, Teenage Fanclub‘s Raymond McGinley, The Raconteurs’ Jack Lawrence, former Breeders Mando Lopez, Britt Walford, and more.

‘Nobody Loves You More’ tracklist is:

1. ‘Nobody Loves You More’
2. ‘Coast’
3. ‘Crystal Breath’
4. ‘Are You Mine?’
5. ‘Disobedience’
6. ‘Wish I Was’
7. ‘Big Ben Beat’
8. ‘Bats In The Afternoon Sky’
9. ‘Summerland’
10. ‘Come Running’
11. ‘A Good Time Pushed’

Deal is known for her work with the Pixies. She joined the band right from their inception in 1986. Despite splitting in 1993, the Pixies reformed in 2004 and toured their 1989 album ‘Doolittle’ between 2009 and 2011 with Deal. In 2013, Deal departed from the band.

In 1989, the musician went on to form The Breeders alongside Tanya Donelly as a side-project alongside their full-time bands Pixies and Throwing Muses respectively. The band’s last release was 2018’s ‘All Nerve’.

In 2019, Deal told NME how The Breeders’ 1990 debut album ‘Pod’ inspired Nirvana to work with Albini, saying: “I think they got Steve Albini to record ‘In Utero’ because they really liked ‘Pod’.

“I remember Dave Grohl saying he really liked the drum sound, but I always felt bad for Dave because the drum sound for ‘Pod’ sounds huge because there’s so much empty space for the drums to ring out. Poor Dave had all these guitars and bass playing all the way through.”

In 2022, Grohl joined Deal on stage at a charity concert to perform a cover of Pixies‘ classic ‘Gigantic’.

Earlier this year, Breeders joined Olivia Rodrigo on her ‘Guts’ world tour.
