A new Game Of Thrones spin-off series is currently in production, according to the official X account of the HBO series.

A post made to X yesterday shows a possible scene from the new series, which is currently titled A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms.

The post confirms that it is now in production, and will be “coming soon” to streaming service, Max.

The series, which is adapted from George R. R. Martin’s novel The Hedge Knight, takes place a century before the events of Game Of Thrones, and a century after the events of House Of The Dragon, which has just released its second season.

According to Variety, the series will follow Ser Duncan the Tall and his young squire, Egg, as they take part in a competition, encountering various members of the infamous Targaryen dynasty.

The logline, according to Deadline, reads: “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.

“Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

So far, a handful of actors have been named as being in the cast. These include Finn Bennett of True Detective: Night Country fame, Doctor Foster’s Bertie Carvel, Tanzyn Crawford, known for Hulu miniseries Tiny Beautiful Things and Daniel Ings, of Sex Education, The Gentleman and The Crown.

Last April, Martin opened up about the exciting new prequel to the hit HBO series, sharing that the script has been worked on by a team of Game Of Thrones experts: “The pilot script is already written, and I think it’s terrific. It was written by Ira Parker, who is no stranger to Westeros.”

“He was part of Ryan Condal’s writing staff for the first season of House Of The Dragon and wrote the fourth episode of House Of The Dragon’s first season, ‘King of the Narrow Sea’,” he added.

Little is known about an expected release date, but Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has reported that it will debut in “late 2025”.

Meanwhile, amid the excitement of the release of House Of The Dragon season two, HBO announced that the Game Of Thrones prequel series has been renewed for a third season.
