This Will Destroy You have split up into two bands – but they will both be using their original name for the time being.
The Texas post-rock outfit, who formed back in 2004, took to social media to confirm that their core members – guitarists Jeremy Galindo and Christopher King – had “decided to pursue their own creative endeavors, focusing on solo, collaborative, and compositional work”.
“As they embark on these new ventures, both Galindo and King will continue to honour their roots by touring globally with two distinct lineups of This Will Destroy You,” the statement continued.
“Each lineup will perform different material from the TWDY catalog during their respective tours and shows, and both will release new music under separate project names in the future.”
The message added: “Christopher King will be performing with [TWDY’s] Jesse Kees [bass, keys] and Robi Gonzalez [drums], who were instrumental in the creation of [2018 albums] ‘New Others Part 1 and 2’ They will be joined by multi-instrumentalist, Masaru Takaku.”
Galindo, meanwhile, is set to tour with Johnnie McBryde, Nicholas Huft, and Ethan Billips.

This Will Destroy You have released seven studio albums since 2006, the latest being 2020’s ‘Vespertine’ – the musical score composed for Chef Jordan Kahn’s 2-Michelin Star restaurant of the same name.
They dropped two EPs in 2020, ‘Variations & Rarities: 2004-2019 Vol. I’ and ‘Variations & Rarities: 2004-2019 Vol. II’.
Galindo and King are the only two constant members since the group was formed 20 years ago, although both have worked on other projects.
According to Setlist.FM, This Will Destroy You’s most recent live show together took place at Post. Festival 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana last month.
