Travis have surprised fans by busking on a vintage double decker bus in Glasgow City Centre.

The Glawesgians paid their hometown a visit off the back of releasing their latest album ‘L.A. Times’, which dropped last Friday (July 12) by busking songs from the record on a beautiful double decker bus.

The bus was the exact same vehicle used in the band’s music video for latest single ‘Bus’, which was also directed by frontman Fran Healy.

Fans could spot Healy on the hop-off back exit as he sang songs from ‘L.A. Times’ as well as old Travis hits. Starting from the banks of the River Clyde, Travis also paid a visit to the Barrowlands Ballroom for a surprise set, where they busked in front of a mural depicting ‘L.A. Times’ and its cover artwork. The impromptu bus tour finished by at the WEST Brewery at Glasgow Green.

Speaking about their busking set, Healy said: “It’s been so much fun performing our new music on the streets that made us. Glasgow is a beautiful city. I love it. The people, the music, the spirit, the attitude. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be to celebrate our 10th album release.”

The band spoke to NME about their most recent album, with Healy talking about its lead single ‘Gaslight’: “I’ve had personal experience of it, my kids have had personal experience, friends have had it, you get it in schools, you get it in the police, you get it with politicians,” he explained.

“Are we living in a time where it’s happening more? No I don’t think so. We’re like, ‘Oh my God it’s everywhere’ but it’s always been everywhere. It’s not nice to be on the receiving end of it but it’s nice to be emancipated from it. To rid yourself of it.”

He continued: “Someone said something to me once and it really struck a chord. That is, ‘Look, if there’s someone in your life who you’re maybe on the phone with and every time you see them or put the phone down, you don’t feel good about yourself, why the fuck are they in your life?’ Get them out of your fucking life. So it’s a song about getting people like that and saying, ‘Get to fuck.’”

Travis recently opened for The Killers for their UK/EU tour – you can watch Travis and  Brandon Flowers cover Aztec Camera’s ‘Somewhere In My Heart’ in Glasgow here.
