Adele performing live on stage in Munich

Adele battled torrential rain as she played her latest Munich residency show last night (August 14) – watch the footage below.

The singer is currently midway through her 10-date stint at the purpose-built 80,000-capacity Messe München arena in Germany, which is hosting her first performances in mainland Europe since 2016.

In fan-shot footage of yesterday’s concert, Adele is seen airing her ’30’ song ‘Oh My God’ as heavy rain pours down on her. Despite the wet conditions, Adele managed to successfully walk down a set of stairs and along the stage runway.

Another clip revealed that the pop star had to wear trainers for the gig due to the slippery stage caused by the bad weather. “Get your camera off my trainers!” she jokingly shouted at one fan before tying her laces.

“Who just said ‘Nice shoes’? Stop making fun of me! […] This is my fifth show, and five is my lucky number. So even though it’s pouring with rain, this is actually the most fun I’m having out of all the shows so far.”

Elsewhere in the set, Adele joked (via Billboard): “If it stops raining when I do ‘Set Fire To The Rain’, I’m going to be fucking furious.”

Fans have since said that the elements added extra drama and a “magical” edge to Adele’s live performance. “Adele singing ‘Skyfall’ while the rain is pouring so hard – THIS IS CINEMA,” one person wrote.

Last night’s show also saw Adele take a moment to praise Chappell Roan, calling the rising singer “absolutely amazing”. “She is spectacular, and it turns out, she’s not just got one song,” she said. “She’s got, like, seven fucking brilliant songs.”

Adele has five dates left of her current Munich residency (August 16, 23, 24, 30, 31). She recently revealed that she doesn’t have “any plans for new music, at all”, and will be taking a “big break” from music after these shows end.

She has since confirmed her engagement to Rich Paul live on stage. Earlier this month, Adele performed her 2008 single ‘Chasing Pavements’ for the first time in seven years. At another gig, she paused the set to stream the semi-final and final of the women’s 100m Olympic races.
